During introductory tutoring, the Tutor establishes rapport and a baseline using formal and informal assessments. Referring to any requirements (such as IEP Goals and accommodations), the Lessons Plan for the student is composed according to the specific student’s needs. Parents: please purchase the Lesson Plan Manual for the student’s grade level for reference and use.
Most students make substantial improvements in their academic life after about six weeks of weekly tutoring. Students under age 10 usually respond best to two 30 minute sessions per week, while older children are engaged throughout a weekly hour long session weekly. Major changes in grades within the semester are seen by most families along with clear understanding of study skills and techniques. A year’s worth of tutoring or more gives them confidence they will carry with them for a lifetime. For some students who are catching up an ideal schedule is twice per week or depending on required speed. .
